BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® launches the third installment of “Cocktails & Create”, a series of inspiring events intended to stir guests’ creativity. The leading premium gin brand invites gin enthusiasts and art lovers alike to join artist and marbling extraordinaire Zeena Shah at The Hoxton to master the art of marbling on the iconic Bombay Sapphire bottle – why throw your bottle away when you can renew its vigour and give it a new lease of life? And after guests create their own bespoke Insta-worthy piece of bottle art, they can enjoy sipping on sustainable gin and tonic cocktails in celebration of Recycle Week (21st-27th September).
Only a short time ago life revolved around catching up with friends online as we explored new ways to get creative with online masterclasses and Zoom hangouts. Now, as bars and restaurants re-open and we have a little more freedom to socialise, this Cocktails & Create event provides a creative outlet for you to catch up with a small groups of friends or simply do something different with those in your household.
Host Zeena Shah is not only seasoned at leading masterclasses, but as an art director and stylist has been designing and printing her own line of textiles and interiors for almost a decade. During the two evening events, guests will join Zeena as she brings her craft to The Hoxton and demonstrates the art of marbling, using the blue BOMBAY SAPPHIRE bottles as her canvas.
Marbling is a surface pattern-marking technique using paints that float to the surface of water. Paints are swirled around and gently manipulated on the surface of water to create a unique and beautiful marble pattern – sustainable drinks coasters and the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE bottle will then be dipped into the inks and pulled out to reveal the pattern. Each result will be unique to the individual. Marbling is one of the most effective and unique forms of art that gives back so much with very little input. The magic really is in the relationship between the inks and the water, so attendees need not worry if they’re a novice. This is an experience that can be enjoyed by all, with a result you’ll be proud to display at home – not only is the finished product striking and unique, but guests can take pride in the fact that it’s 100% upcycled and that they’ve played a part in giving the iconic bottle a new lease of life through their own creativity.
Zeena Shah commented: “It’s an important time to explore your creativity, to connect with yourself and in this instance, a great way to connect and enjoy re-connecting with others! The beauty of marbling is that you’re forced to switch off and enjoy yourself as the process is so cathartic and mesmerising. No experience is required, you simply watch the patterns unfold in front of you whilst swirling the inks around and of course, you can sip on a delicious G&T whilst you wait for your finished product to dry! After quite a few slightly slower months I can’t wait to be creating and hosting again and look forward to seeing the creations we make.”
As the event falls in Sustainability Month the attendees will enjoy a creative and conscious gin cocktail titled ‘2nd Life’, crafted by The Hoxton’s mixologists. The cocktail incorporates a jasmine and chamomile tea cordial made prepared in advance on-site using an infusion of tea bags. This gives them a second lease of life and adds a subtle tea aroma to the drink, which also contains Bombay Sapphire gin and Martini Ambrato. Whilst bottles and coasters are left to dry (20-30 minutes) attendees will also enjoy a selection of delicious bar snacks from The Hoxton’s menu.
Tickets cost £10pp with a minimum of 2 tickets per booking (£20 – ticket for 2 guests).
PLEASE NOTE: Attendees will be sat in their groups at a social distance from other parties to remain within Covid-19 guidelines. Guests will be required to provide their email address and phone number to the bar upon arrival as part of the Test and Trace NHS scheme. Guests’ safety is the utmost importance to BOMBAY SAPPHIRE and The Hoxton and in the instance that government guidelines change, the event may be delayed or cancelled.
